« back![]() Range of cult worship. Amongst the originals and the public, Thoth remains to this day probably the most popular deity. He was the first original fairy to die (in around 4500 BC) and was the first deity of Egypt. The few surviving records referencing Thoth all speak of him favourably: strong, confident, good-hearted, intelligent, adventurous and a natural leader. Two of his epithets were 'guardian of the balance' and 'seeker of truth', inferring that he upheld the balance between the mortal world and the immortal, protecting fairies from gods and vice versa. Thoth was widely liked and respected amongst the originals and would probably have become a successful Chairman if not for his untimely death. While he was alive, he was regarded as an unofficial leader of the deities; after he died, Aura had to step into that role and the Council of Originals was established to fill in the gap Thoth left behind. No records detail Thoth's appearance, but after his death his image and memory were immortalised in the form of the Egyptian god of wisdom. It is very unlikely that the original Thoth had an ibis head, however. Although he got along with everyone, Thoth had a strong friendship with Mallos, Caspian and Aura. He was often the ringleader of their adventures. « back |
